People's Choice Award

Posted August 29, 2013

Teachers Elia and Shirley introduce their grade 7 students to key events that led to Canada's Confederation with this activity. Students are given 16 "event cards" and then use the criteria for histoical significance to rate the events. In groups, students must choose the top 8 most significant events, and eventually the class must decide what they think is the most significant event that led to Confederation. This year, the students were tasked with making a short film about their final choice.
