Priceville Footbridge Tragedy
In May 1939, in the small town of Priceville New Brunswick a tragedy occurred that would remain in the minds of many even now, when the local footbridge collapsed claiming the lives of three and injuring two.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
When I found that my great great aunt was a witness to the tragedy I found that extremely interesting!
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
To learn from the past, the more knowledge you have the less mistakes will be made.
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
My life today is very different than the lives of those in Priceville in 1939. It was normal for those people to cross a bridge that swung and looked extremely dangerous. I have it much easier than them, to cross something like that for me, I would find that extremely scary but for them it was normal daily life.
