On the remote shoreline of Hudson Bay stand two National Historic Sites — York Factory and Fort Prince of Wales. Both were important centres of trade and transportation in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Both have deteriorated with the passage of time. York Factory in particular is threatened with disappearing due to river erosion.
