Witness to History: Living Through Exceptional Times
As the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadians have had their lives turned upside down.
The pandemic is exacerbating complicated issues in our society — highlighting problems of inequality and racism, sparking debates around individual and collective rights, and fuelling an increase in political polarization.
Yet, we also see stories of hope — of communities coming together, of social and economic innovation, and of a shift in priorities to the basic needs of health, love, and safety.
The first day of the Canada’s History Forum invites some of Canada’s leading scholars for an online conversation to provide a historical context for these topics, and to shed light on the challenges and opportunities facing our society during exceptional times.
On day two of the Forum, we welcome the recipients of the Governor General’s History Awards to share their award-winning work, and to reflect on learning and teaching through this historic moment in time.
Join us online on November 26, 2020, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm Eastern Time, and on November 27, 2020, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm Eastern Time. View the programs for Day One and Day Two.
