Welcome 2021 Young Citizens
Congratulations to the 2021 Young Citizens for their work in preparing their Heritage Fair or other Canadian history research project and for editing their video. It’s so nice to see the different stories they captured through the lens of their camera. Once again BRAVO to each participant!
This year we are celebrating the tenth anniversary of Young Citizens. Since 2012, we have received over 1,100 videos as part of the program. We are actively working on sharing this collection of student work on our new youth channel and invite you to view the videos of past participants. Thank you to Bruce MacLellan and Karen Girling for their support of this work and their championing of the Young Citizens program.
As you visit the profiles of our 2021 cohort, we would like you to take a moment to encourage each of the participants by leaving constructive comments. A space has been provided for this purpose on each of their personal pages. You can also vote for your favourite videos at this time.
The online vote will be available June 14 at 9:00 am Eastern Time. To vote, visit a profile page and click on the “vote” button. This button will not be visible until the vote opens. You will need a valid email address and will only be able to submit one vote per video. Voting will remain open until 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on July 1, 2021. The results of the vote will make up part of your overall score.
You can share your favourite videos via Facebook and Twitter by clicking on the social media links on your profile page. This is one of the easiest ways to obtain votes.
After the vote, the judges will review the videos and select four recipients.
Thank you once again for contributing to the program and supporting the Young Citizens of 2021.
Good luck to all those who take part in this great adventure!
